The inn was built in 1860 as a sea captain's home, situated in the heart of Chatham, and just a short walk to all of the shops and restaurants. About a mile from Lighthouse Beach and a gentle stroll to Oyster Pond. Close to the bandstand where there is a concert on Friday evenings in the summer. The inn has been exquisitely renovated and expanded to include 56 guest rooms. Many of the rooms have patios or balconies and all of them have private baths. For an extra special getaway, there are fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, canopy and four poster beds to choose from. Handicapped accessible rooms, an outdoor heated pool (seasonal) and a restaurant which is open year round. Coming back to the inn at the end of the day, guests will find excellent dining in the restaurant, whether on the patio, in the pub or in the fireside dining room. The menu features fresh local seafood with a contemporary flair as well as tasty chicken, beef and lamb entrees. Breakfast and lunch are also served, and on Sunday there is a brunch to linger over. All in all, a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere will make your getaway to Cape Cod a joy. |

This
old B & B is reputed to belong to the 'Underground Railroad' for
escaped slaves that were dropped off on the beach and hidden in a special
room below the hall (it is still there!). The house is set back
from the road on a hill, with a cranberry bog on one side and a panoramic
view of Pleasant Bay. Beautiful landscaped gardens surround the
main house that this year has seen extensive renovations that have
been done with great care to enhance the character of the old building
(1798) with modern amenities. There are four bedrooms
in the main house - two queens and two kings. There are three
standard rooms with either two doubles or a queen, and a two bedroom
Carriage House (one double and 2 singles) complete with kitchen in
the old wing that has yet to be renovated. A private sandy beach
complete with dock is just across the road and is a great place to
unwind, catch up on the tan or go fishing. A perfect home base
for exploring the southern and outer part of Cape Cod. Limited
access for children. |
