Day
1 & 2 Boston, Massachusetts
Transfer on your own to your hotel. Our professional Tourco tour
director will be available in the hotel lobby from 18:00 to 21:00 to
give you your information packet. On your first morning in Boston,
join your Tourco tour director in the lobby of the hotel at 08:30 for
a 09:00 departure. During this morning's guided walking tour of
one of America's oldest cities, experience the contrast between the past
and present, viewing sites ranging from the Old North Church to the modern
John Hancock Tower. This afternoon you are free to explore the
city on your own. Overnight 2 nights in Boston at the Hyatt Regency Boston Hotel. |
Day 3 Boston to Portland, Maine (107 miles)
This morning, depart at 09:00 to travel along the North Shore of Massachusetts
and the southern coast of Maine. Travel through the town of Salem,
noted for its 17th century witchcraft trials. Further up the coast
is the charming fishing port of Gloucester and the famous Fishermen's
Memorial statue commemorating "....they that go down to the sea in ships". The
artist colonies of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Kennebunk, Maine, bustle
in the summer and provide the quiet inspiration of the sea all year long. Overnight
1 night in mid coast Maine at Amerisuites Portland Hotel. |
Day 4 Portland to North Conway, New Hampshire (66 miles)
Begin with a stop at Portland Head Light, a lovely example of the respected
architectural form. Next, we head inland into New Hampshire's White
Mountains. Travel along the scenic Kancamagus Highway, an old Indian
Trail that cuts through the National Forest. In Franconia Notch
you'll see the 'Old Man of the Mountain', a natural rock formation overlooking
Profile Lake. Enjoy an included aerial tram ride to the summit
of Cannon Mountain that offers splendid views of the area (weather permitting). Overnight
1 night Eagle Mountain House. |
Day 5 North Conway to Killington, Vermont (171 miles)
Hundreds of ponds and more than 1,300 lakes adorn New Hampshire's Lakes
region, location for the popular film 'On Golden Pond'. Today we'll
pass two of these lakes, Winnipesaukee and Squam. Our journey continues
to Vermont's Green Mountains. A photo stop will capture breathtaking
views of Quechee Gorge. Continue to Woodstock for free time in
this quaint Vermont town, complete with a wooden covered bridge. Overnight
1 night in Vermont at Six Mountains Inn, Killington. |
Day 6 Killington to Northampton, Massachusetts (174 miles)
This morning, head south through the pastoral beauty of Vermont. Stop
in lovely Manchester Village, where designer outlets frame the village
green and high street. Continuing south we enter the Berkshire
Hills of Western Massachusetts for an included visit to Hancock Shaker
Village. The famous Shaker furniture and other artefacts on display
here were intended to be a simple expression of their worship. The
Round Stone Barn is the subject of many photographs. Overnight
1 night Connecticut River Valley at Sheraton Springfield. |
Day 7 & 8 Cape Cod - Martha's Vineyard or Whale watch (180
miles)

Today we travel to America's smallest state, Rhode Island. Visit
Newport, the sailing capital of New England. Here, at the turn
of the last century, America's wealthy families lived in such opulence
that they referred to their palatial seasonal homes as 'cottages'. Travel
along the beautiful Ten Mile Drive, lined with extravagant stately mansions. We
will tour one of these 'summer cottages' (admission is included). Then
drive on to Cape Cod. Awake to the fresh sea air in this world
renowned resort. Today, choose an unescorted round trip ferry ride
to the island of Martha's Vineyard, with an included sightseeing tour or you
may decide to join us on a tour of Cape Cod with an included Whale Watch
cruise (weather permitting). Overnight 2 nights Cape Cod at Heritage House Hotel. |
Day 9 Cape Cod to Boston (75 miles)
En route to Boston, we will tour through Sandwich, the Cape's oldest
town. Next stop at Plymouth Plantation (admission included) invites
you to witness life as it was in this settlement in 1627 and to interact
with the 'pilgrims' as they go about their daily life. Then, regretfully,
it is time to return to Boston. This tour will drop passengers
off at Logan International Airport by 16:00. |
