CONNECTICUT

Connecticut

This beautiful wooded and agricultural state extends from the serene, gently rolling Litchfield Hills that abut New York state in the west and Massachusetts in the north.  The rich history and architecture of the state runs from the New York retreat towns of Greenwich and Norwalk in the south west, Yale University in New Haven, along the coast of Long Island Sound to the naval bases in Groton and New London and the old whaling port of Mystic before joining Rhode Island in the east.  Dotted along the coast are old seafaring towns and several rivers including the Connecticut River that runs from the mountains in Vermont and New Hampshire right through to the sea between Old Saybrook and Old Lyme.  This provided an opening into the state by the early settlers.  Inland the north eastern corner of the state is the 'Quiet Corner', providing a glimpse of rural seclusion and a nearly endless trail of treasures, from vineyards to antiques.  Hartford is the capital, once the home of Mark Twain.

We have accommodation available across the state: a rural B & B in West Woodstock, a riverside B & B in Mystic, a cosy B & B with swimming pool and hot tub in Killingworth and an 18th century Colonial style B & B in Brooklyn.
