EASTHAM - Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Located between Orleans and Provincetown, there are golden sandy public beaches on the Atlantic - Nauset Beach - and on Cape Cod Bay - First Encounter Beach.  This was where the Pilgrim Fathers first met the Nauset Indians in 1620.  The National Seashore Visitor Center is well worth a visit and explains the formation of Cape Cod, its animals and plants, good for a pit stop if you are biking on the Cape Cod Rail Trail.  This is a 26-mile walking and biking trail that stretches from Dennis through Eastham to Wellfleet and passes alongside salt marshes, fresh water ponds and groves of trees; bikes can be hired in Brewster.  In 1903 Marconi transmitted the world's first wireless message from nearby.

Our B & B in EasthamThis old B & B dates back to 1690 when it was built as a sea captain's home.  It is situated on two acres of landscaped gardens with garden patio, lawns and trees and is set back from the road behind a large hedge.  Eastham provides an excellent touring base for the outer Cape, visits to Provincetown, whale watching, the nature reserve of the National Seashore is nearby, there are miles of bike paths and nature trails, and sandy beaches on both Cape Cod Bay and the Atlantic.  There is a good selection of restaurants in the area.  The inn has a selection of bedrooms that reflect the size and aspect of the room, decor and furnishings, from Standard rooms with queen beds or 2 singles, each with a private bath, to Deluxe rooms.  Luxury bedrooms are larger and some have two person whirlpool tubs, four poster beds and TVs.  There are two Luxury suites that sleep 4 people with a separate sitting room, two person whirlpool tub, fireplace, fridge, TV and balcony.  There is a large cosy common room and the 1690 dining room is oak-panelled with wide planked floors.  Limited access for children.
