This
unique 1896 B & B is situated about 15 miles south of Bath, on
a grassy knoll near the end of the Phippsburg peninsula. The
land gently drops away on both sides. To the north, upstream
views of the Kennebec River and Atkins Bay can be seen through the
trees and, on the southern side, the manicured lawns run down to Silver
Lake. A stand of trees beyond hides the Atlantic Ocean and the
mouth of the Kennebec that is dotted with rugged islands. This
family home is comfortably furnished with antiques. The four
large in-house bedrooms are beautifully presented and have a selection
of bed types and sitting areas (three en suite and one with a bath
across hall). The separate Carriage House has a private entrance
and deck, one double bedroom, a kitchenette and sitting room suitable
for a family, with a sofa bed and room for a rollaway, and full bathroom. A
full country breakfast is served in the dining room or on the covered
porch. This is a secluded favourite B & B for resting film
stars and the property has been used as a film location. Well
behaved children. |
