Local restaurants include the Salem Cross Inn near Brookfield that specialises in traditional spit roast cookery and apple pie baked in a beehive oven. Other places of interest in the area include old Sturbridge village, the historic city of Worcester and the scenic drive along Route 2 - The Mohawk Trail - to North Adams. The inn is close to swimming, bird-watching, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, golf and winter sports at Mount Wachusett about 30 minutes away.  Sturbridge is about an hour's drive west of Boston. There is a choice of accommodation here spread over four buildings, set in a suburban location, just a short drive to the Old Sturbridge Village Living Museum. There is a full service country inn, a smaller B & B, a separate house that is converted into suites and a motel.
