Three miles from the historic town of York that was first settled in 1624, where there are museums, shops and restaurants. Six miles to Long Sands beach and on to the famous Cape Neddick Lighthouse. Outlet shopping in nearby Kittery, some 2 miles away. 70 miles north of Boston. This delightful home has just undergone extensive refurbishment. Shielded from the main road (Route 1) by a wood, access is by a private drive that snakes through the trees to the large L-shaped house. It is surrounded on two sides by over two acres of gardens and woodland. The other two sides have river frontage with private dock and a beach on the tidal York River. The home is a bungalow and the new owners have completely renovated the property to an exceptionally high standard. There is a fountain outside the lobby area, then the kitchen, dining room and living room are all open plan but divided from each other with half walls and alcoves, all with river views. White carpeting throughout, apart from a warm speckled green in the kitchen area. The kitchen is wonderful, every imaginable object, microwave, fridge, stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, etc. Colour cable widescreen TV, VCR built in stereo system and two double sofa beds in the living room. Gas fireplace and fans. Wheelchair ramps. From the living room you walk down a long hall, with three bedrooms off it, all with queen beds, very good quality furniture and mattresses and river views, and two full bathrooms. The end bedroom has a screened porch which leads out to the patio area. Extensive lawns and flower beds. Washer/dryer. To the right of the lobby there is another queen bedroom with a fireplace and views up the river, and next door is another living room, balcony, bathroom with shower and French windows opening to the riverside garden. Lovely swimming pool and jacuzzi with patio area, outdoor furniture and gas barbecue. There is an extra charge ($300 in 2003) for heating the pool. |
